Key Takeaways
Mumbai, January 21 (NationPress) – Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has shared insights on how he convinced the iconic actress Farida Jalal to incorporate profane language in his forthcoming film O Romeo.
During the trailer launch of O Romeo, Vishal explained, “Initially, I informed Farida ji about the need for abusive language in a particular scene. She inquired about the specifics and whether it was too harsh, to which I responded that the language was essential for character development.”
He further elaborated, “The character played by Shahid is someone whom the entire city, including the underworld, fears. However, in the presence of his grandmother, he is completely submissive. She has the ability to control him entirely. That was the essence of the character, and Farida ji embraced it.”
Praising the seasoned actress for her remarkable performance in O Romeo, Vishal noted, “She delivered her lines with such passion that it became a topic of discussion everywhere. Although we kept her waiting for the shoot, which was quite challenging for her, we are immensely grateful for her contribution to this project.”
Vishal also reflected on the strong women in his family and how their resilience influenced his upbringing. He stated, “From a young age, I have observed the formidable nature of the women in my family. I genuinely believe that women possess greater strength than men. While men may be quick-tempered, women approach situations with more calmness and tact. I’ve witnessed their strength first-hand. Back in Meerut, if my aunt yelled at boys loitering at night, they would scatter in fear. That exemplifies the strength I’ve known in women since childhood.”
Without revealing too much about the plot, Vishal described O Romeo, which features Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, as a love story set against a backdrop of violence. He mentioned, “The title is O Romeo, and it revolves around an unfulfilled love story that showcases profound emotions.”
The film is set to hit theaters on February 13.
