Mumbai, May 13 (NationPress) Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has provided insight into the ongoing challenges of terrorism in Kashmir, asserting that merely attributing the issue to Pakistan is insufficient.
In a recent podcast, Agnihotri acknowledged that Pakistan acts as a nursery for terrorism, yet he stressed that the core of the dilemma resides within the internal support systems that allow these groups to function unimpeded. He believes the matter extends beyond just cross-border meddling. In an Instagram video, the director noted that local individuals not only harbor terrorists but also assist them in evading law enforcement and escaping post-attack.
Referencing the 1980s insurgency in Punjab, Vivek Agnihotri illustrated that terrorism was effectively managed only when state authorities took decisive action at the grassroots level. He highlighted the efforts of former Punjab Police chief KPS Gill, who directly led initiatives to dismantle militant frameworks by pinpointing and neutralizing those culpable for the violence.
In the video, he remarked, “We often blame Pakistan, but seldom discuss those who provide refuge to these individuals, becoming a source of these assaults. They infiltrate, conspire, and when violence erupts, they cleverly conceal their identities. This is not something Pakistanis can execute alone.”
“While I concur that Pakistan is a nursery of terror, it’s crucial to also voice concerns about our internal issues. If we remain silent, this problem will persist indefinitely. True eradication of terrorism, as seen in Punjab, only happened when KPS Gill took decisive action against those responsible. Until we address these core issues, terrorism cannot be eliminated,” added Vivek Agnihotri.
