Los Angeles, March 7 (NationPress) An intense dedication to one's craft can sometimes lead to hazardous situations, as experienced by Hollywood star Walton Goggins.
In the third episode of 'The White Lotus' Season 3, Goggins' character liberates a group of caged, venomous snakes, leading to his on-screen girlfriend Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) being bitten and rushed to the hospital, according to reports by 'Variety'.
However, in a surprising twist, it was Walton himself who encountered a snake bite. Appearing on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live', he shared, “I am terrified of snakes. It’s more than a phobia; it feels like there's something fundamentally wrong with me when it comes to them.”
As reported by 'Variety', the intense scene set in a snake sanctuary required Goggins to open terrariums and handle the snakes for release.
A snake handler on set provided guidelines on which reptiles were safe to handle and which “could kill you.”
“For Rick Hatchett, the snakes symbolized his struggles, and metaphorically, he was releasing them to seek freedom from his pain,” Goggins explained, setting the stage for the scene. “That didn’t matter on the day. When I picked up the snake, I began to cry uncontrollably.”
While attempting to extract one of the snakes, it resisted, lunging at him and biting him.
“I wish I could have acted cool,” Goggins reflected on his response, but he ended up yelling, “Oh my God, I’ve been bitten by a snake.” Despite having nine hours left to film that day, he treated his wound with Neosporin and continued filming. The following day, a producer for 'The White Lotus' suggested he seek medical attention, to which Goggins responded, “Why? You said the snake was non-venomous. Am I dying a slow death?” Ultimately, he did go to the hospital and received a precautionary shot.
