Is Whoopi Goldberg Not Good with Relationships?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, Feb 6 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Whoopi Goldberg has expressed that she is "not suited for a relationship." Having remained single for many years since her divorce from actor Lyle Trachtenberg in 1995, Whoopi emphasized her lack of interest in sharing her life with a partner, as reported by Female First UK.
In an interview with Interview magazine, she stated, "Over the past 25 years, I’ve realized that not everyone is meant to be in a relationship. Some individuals are simply better suited for casual encounters. I have no desire to live with anyone; I lived with my daughter instead."
She added, "That’s all I can manage. I have many loved ones, but I don’t require them to cohabitate with me. I don’t need to share a bed with them either." According to Female First UK, Whoopi, who shares a daughter, Alex, 51, with her first husband Alvin Martin, was also married to David Claessen from 1986 to 1988, and later to Trachtenberg in 1994. She confessed that she finds it difficult to contemplate a partner and their expectations.
Whoopi remarked, "I’m not adept at relationships because it requires considering others, and I already have enough to focus on with my daughter, her husband, my grandchildren, and my great-grandchildren, along with my work obligations."
She continued, "I don’t often feel lonely because I’m surrounded by people who keep me company. However, many individuals struggle with solitude due to societal conditioning that suggests being single is undesirable. Sometimes, you simply want to enjoy a meal alone without the need to accommodate someone else’s preferences. Sometimes, it’s just about enjoying a plate of pasta without the question of wine pairings. I really don’t care about your choice."
At 70, Whoopi has previously revealed her disinterest in relationships, stating that she does not want to "share finances."
