Los Angeles, Feb 11 (NationPress) Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg is preparing to part with some of her cherished possessions, putting them up for auction. The beloved actress has announced that she will be selling her personal "treasures", which include costumes and various memorabilia.
The 70-year-old star is collaborating with Julien's Auctions for the event titled ‘Whoopi Goldberg: The Collection’. The auction will feature her stunning jewellery, elegant dresses, and much more, with the event scheduled for next month, as reported by Female First UK.
In a statement to WWD, she expressed, "After over seven decades of a fulfilling life and more than 40 years in the entertainment industry, it's time to let go of some of the treasures that have accumulated beyond what one person should possess".
She further noted, “I’m honored to collaborate with the iconic Julien’s Auction to help these special items find new homes, hoping they bring joy to others just as they have to me”.
According to Female First UK, a portion of the auction's proceeds will be donated to nonprofit organizations.
Goldberg expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am equally thrilled that two wonderful organizations, One Simple Wish and DonorsChoose, will benefit from this unique auction”.
The collection features notable pieces, including her custom Christian Siriano dress from the 2008 Tony Awards and a Bob Mackie costume from the 1999 Oscars, each estimated to sell for between $1,000 and $2,000.
Film enthusiasts can also acquire a piece of cinematic history, with her Sister Act 2 blazer expected to fetch between $800 and $1,200. Martin Nolan, co-founder and executive director of Julien’s Auctions, remarked, "It is a true honor for Julien’s Auctions to partner with the legendary Whoopi Goldberg, one of the few entertainers to achieve the prestigious EGOT status".
He added, “This collection reflects her discerning eye for detail and lifelong dedication to artistry, serving as a testament to the remarkable cultural legacy she has established over the decades.
