New Delhi, Nov 24 (NationPress) Politicians from various parties expressed profound sorrow on Monday following the loss of veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra, who died earlier that day at a Mumbai hospital at the age of 89.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared his condolences on X, stating, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of the legendary Hindi film actor and former MP Shri Dharmendra ji. He infused life into numerous unforgettable roles with his unique charm and authenticity. His extraordinary impact on Indian cinema will be cherished forever. My deepest sympathies go to his grieving family and numerous fans," he wrote.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Dharmendra's departure as an "unreplaceable loss for the Indian film industry," noting that the actor had touched the hearts of the public for over six decades through his exceptional performances.

"Emerging from a humble background, he established a permanent identity in the film sector. Dharmendra ji was among those exceptional artists who brought every role to life, capturing the hearts of millions across generations. His art ensures he will always be with us. May God grant him a place at His divine abode and provide strength to his family and fans during this time of grief," he added.

Union Minister J.P. Nadda also took to social media, stating that Dharmendra had left an "unforgettable impression on cinema enthusiasts."

"With his genuine nature and dynamic performances, he has held a special place in the hearts of art lovers in India and beyond for many years. In these trying times, my heartfelt condolences are with his grieving family and fans. I pray that the departed soul finds peace and that his family finds the strength to endure this loss," he remarked.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed that the film industry will forever honor Dharmendra’s legacy. He said, "Through iconic roles such as the valiant hero from 'Sholay' and the soulful poet in 'Satyakam', he gifted us tales of courage and compassion. His 'Yaadon ki Baaraat' will resonate through the ages."

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan conveyed his sorrow, labeling the loss as "incredibly sorrowful."

Referring to Dharmendra as "a phenomenal actor in Indian cinema and a cherished artist for all," Chouhan remarked, "His exceptional abilities, humility, and vibrant performances have secured an enduring place in the hearts of millions. His passing symbolizes the conclusion of a golden era in Indian cinema. May God grant peace to his soul and provide strength to his family and fans to endure this loss."

Union MoS Jitendra Singh also shared his condolences, stating, "Known for his humble persona, embodying the rich essence of Punjab, the charming versatile actor we grew up watching will be dearly missed—especially during replays of cinematic classics like 'Devar', 'Anupama', 'Bandini', or 'Sholay.'"

"My thoughts are with our esteemed colleague in the Lok Sabha, Hema Malini ji, Sunny Deol ji, who shares a close personal connection and has also served as MP from the neighboring Gurdaspur, as well as the entire Deol family," he continued.

Dharmendra was initially admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai but had been discharged after showing signs of recovery.

Reports indicated he was on a ventilator due to breathing difficulties. The veteran actor resided at his Khandala farmhouse with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, having moved there due to the deteriorating air quality in Mumbai.

This event follows a series of losses in Hindi cinema, with notable figures Pankaj Dheer, Asrani, Satish Shah, and advertising icon Piyush Pandey passing away last month.
