Patna, Nov 24 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has taken the reins of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, pledging a rigorous, statewide offensive against land-related irregularities and mafia operations.
Upon assuming his role, Sinha convened a meeting with senior officials, urging them to escalate actions against land-grabbing syndicates, unlawful occupations, document forgery, and the middlemen active in this domain.
The minister emphasized that the department would now adopt a zero tolerance policy towards any type of malfeasance linked to land.
“I caution all land mafias—if you are engaged in illegal activities, cease immediately. Stringent measures will commence now,” he warned.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that he had previously overseen this department, which provided him with a perspective on protecting government lands and the rights of Bihar's citizens.
He indicated that the government will prioritize comprehensive reforms, addressing issues from the grassroots to the state level.
Sinha pointed out that Bihar has been plagued by three primary criminal factions—the sand mafia, the liquor mafia, and the land mafia.
“Just as we have implemented reforms in the mining sector, we will also target the white-collar individuals who support crime and shield land mafias,” he stated.
Among his priorities is to provide aid and support to small and marginal farmers by expediting land mutation, challan orders, and other land-related processes.
Sinha emphasized the necessity for complete transparency within zonal offices, which are vital to the department's daily operations.
To facilitate direct interaction with the public, Sinha announced that a statewide zonal inspection campaign will soon be initiated to ensure that citizens' complaints can be addressed immediately.
Previously, senior NDA leader Bijendra Yadav, along with two other ministers, Sanjay Singh Tiger and Surendra Mehta, took up their respective roles on Monday, just two days after the swearing-in ceremony of Nitish Kumar’s new cabinet.
