Yash praises Vishal Mishra for 'Toxic' music: 'Changed the whole colour'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kannada superstar Yash has lavished praise on music composer and singer Vishal Mishra for his contribution to the upcoming film 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups', saying Mishra fundamentally transformed the sonic identity of the project. The film is scheduled to release on 26 August 2026.
Yash on Vishal Mishra's Impact
Calling Mishra his 'little brother', Yash credited the composer with giving the film a distinct musical personality. 'He changed the whole colour of the film because we wanted something unique,' the actor said. 'The songs had to be something which expressed the energy of the characters. We can make songs easily, but the point here is that each character has a distinct way of expressing themselves in this movie and the music is very important for that. The songs had to sound not like something which is starting and ending, but something which is taking the story ahead.'
The film's track 'Tabaahi', sung by Mishra himself, has already emerged as a chartbuster ahead of the release.
The Dedication Behind the Music
Yash went on to detail the extraordinary effort Mishra reportedly put in, noting that the composer even broke his arms during the process. 'Vishal also has broken his arms, that's how much whoever has come into this project, especially technicians, have worked hard. None of them have left in one piece for sure,' Yash said. He added that Mishra travelled to the United States to get the mastering done, underscoring the team's commitment to sonic quality. 'He has created so many versions. More than me, he has owned this film,' Yash said.
Ravi Basrur Gets His Due
Yash also singled out composer Ravi Basrur, his long-time collaborator on the KGF franchise. 'You have always given me your best, given KGF, and now with Toxic, people will see a new Ravi who has upgraded himself,' the actor said. 'He has gone out of his comfort zone and created something which is very authentic and apt for the moment,' he added. Basrur's evolution as a composer, Yash suggested, will be one of the film's talking points.
The Music Team Behind Toxic
The film's soundtrack features contributions from a multi-composer ensemble: Ravi Basrur, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah, and Arslan Nizami. The breadth of the team reflects the film's ambition to deliver a varied yet cohesive soundscape. Notably, Yash's framing positions the music not as background accompaniment but as a narrative device — each song designed to advance character and story rather than pause it.
What to Expect
'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups' arrives in cinemas on 26 August 2026. With 'Tabaahi' already generating pre-release buzz, the film's music is shaping up to be a significant factor in its opening-weekend momentum.
