Gandhinagar, Feb 23 (NationPress) As of now, Gujarat boasts 2.73 crore active Ayushman cardholders enrolled in the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana–Mukhyamantri Amrutam Yojana (PMJAY-MA). The state government has approved a staggering Rs 7,235.49 crore in funding against 27.55 lakh claims in the last two years, as shared during the State Assembly session on Monday.

In response to inquiries within the House, state Health Minister Praful Pansheriya confirmed that the scheme continues to attract significant enrollment and usage throughout the state.

“Currently, there are 2.73 crore active Ayushman cards in Gujarat,” he stated.

Providing further insights, the Minister disclosed that for the fiscal year 2024–25, approximately 25.24 lakh new Ayushman cards were approved.

“In that same timeframe, 13.40 lakh claims were sanctioned, totaling Rs 3,666.53 crore,” he added.

As of 2025–26, 31.78 lakh new cards have been approved, with 14.15 lakh claims processed, amounting to Rs 3,568.96 crore allocated for treatment expenses.

The Minister emphasized that strict measures are enforced against hospitals that breach the rules or standard operating procedures associated with the scheme.

“In the past two years, 49 hospitals have faced suspension, with 29 currently under suspension,” he noted.

As a case in point, Minister Pansheriya mentioned that a penalty of Rs 8.69 lakh was imposed on the JCCC Hospital in Jamnagar. The physician responsible has been suspended from the scheme, and the incident has been reported to the Medical Council.

This year’s state budget allocates Rs 3,472 crore for the PMJAY-MA scheme.

The state government is dedicated to fostering a healthy society by ensuring access to quality healthcare services.

The scope of IVF treatment has also been broadened, with the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Ahmedabad expanding its IVF services to Surat, Bhavnagar, and Jamnagar.

As of November last year, 2,090 hospitals are empaneled under PMJAY–MA in Gujarat, comprising 1,132 government hospitals and 958 private hospitals.

Beneficiaries are entitled to receive treatment for 2,299 medical procedures, alongside 50 Specialized Referral Services.
