Ahmedabad, May 1 (NationPress) The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), acknowledged as the globe’s largest health security program, is transforming healthcare accessibility throughout India. In Gujarat’s Ahmedabad and Vadodara, numerous beneficiaries are praising the initiative for enabling access to life-saving medical treatments without financial burdens.
One notable beneficiary, Mohammad Yusuf Bagwan, a 48-year-old resident of Ahmedabad, is the sole supporter of his family, selling fruits to provide for his wife and two daughters. Already battling heart disease, his condition worsened when doctors identified further blocked arteries, requiring urgent intervention. Unable to bear the high medical expenses, he sought help from the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which fully covered his treatment.
Bagwan expressed to IANS, "I was told the treatment would exceed Rs 10-15 lakh, which was beyond our means. Thanks to the Ayushman card, I received the necessary treatment."
He added, "I want to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for this transformative program."
Amina Khatoon, Bagwan’s daughter, also commended the initiative.
“It’s an excellent program. Without it, my father wouldn’t have received treatment. I thank PM Modi for making this possible,” she stated.
Iqbal Hussain Mansuri, a Vadodara resident, shared his experience with the scheme as well. As the primary earner for his family, Iqbal earns Rs 15,000 monthly from his job in motor winding. When he started experiencing acute chest pain, his doctor advised immediate treatment, which he could not afford. Once again, the Ayushman Bharat Yojana came to his aid, covering his treatment expenses at Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad. This marks his third hospitalization under the scheme, as the first two treatments had utilized his initial Rs 5 lakh coverage limit. However, the scheme’s adaptable coverage enabled him to receive additional support.
"I can’t afford treatment costs. The Ayushman Bharat program has been a lifesaver for me," Iqbal remarked.
"I’m feeling significantly better now. I am extremely thankful to PM Modi for this initiative."
Iqbal’s daughter, Shaheen, mirrored her father’s feelings, expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for this groundbreaking initiative that has positively impacted many families.
The Ayushman Bharat Yojana provides secondary and tertiary hospitalization with coverage up to Rs 5 lakh per family annually. This initiative is a crucial advancement towards achieving universal health coverage, ensuring that even the most economically disadvantaged can access quality healthcare without the burden of financial worries.
