Prayagraj, April 10 (NationPress) The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), recognized as the world’s largest health assurance initiative, is significantly changing the healthcare scenario in India by offering free and accessible medical treatments to millions. In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, numerous beneficiaries are expressing their heartfelt appreciation for the transformative advantages they have gained through this scheme.
Residents in Prayagraj are receiving complimentary treatments under AB PM-JAY, encompassing surgeries and critical care.
Kishan, a local inhabitant, recently had a hand surgery at Moti Lal Nehru Divisional Hospital facilitated by the Ayushman Bharat program.
In an interview with IANS, Kishan’s father, Udaybhan, stated: “The scheme is remarkable. We receive support of up to Rs 5 lakh and can access treatment even in private healthcare facilities. Previously, without the card, treatments were prohibitively expensive. People were forced to take out loans; it was a tremendous strain. Since acquiring the card, we have experienced substantial relief.”
Another beneficiary, Mohammad Shahzade, is receiving care for injuries sustained to his hand and head at the same medical facility. His wife, Sawara Begum, conveyed how the scheme has become a vital support for their family.
“My husband is out of work, and I have been employed in a private sector job for six years. This scheme has granted us significant assistance. Previously, when we required medical care, we had to gather between Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000. Those in poverty couldn’t access hospitals without funds. However, with the Ayushman card, we are receiving free treatment. No other initiative like this existed before,” Sawara Begum told IANS.
She further lauded the free program, underlining its critical importance for families with multiple dependents.
“This scheme has been a godsend for those with children and elderly parents. It’s an invaluable support. I genuinely thank Prime Minister Modi for implementing it.”
Importantly, AB PM-JAY offers benefits for secondary and tertiary hospitalization of up to Rs 5 lakh per family annually. This initiative is a pivotal stride towards achieving universal health coverage, ensuring that even the most impoverished citizens can access quality healthcare without facing financial strain.
