Bhopal, March 13 (NationPress) In a pivotal move, the government of Madhya Pradesh has sanctioned a revised stipend for junior resident doctors at government-operated medical colleges and hospitals, stated Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla on Friday.
He mentioned that the updated stipend framework will take effect from April 1, 2025, showcasing an increase in the stipends for junior doctors based on a Consumer Price Index (CPI) adjustment of 2.94.
Deputy Chief Minister Shukla, who oversees the health and medical education sectors in the state, voiced his optimism that junior doctors will significantly contribute, with unwavering commitment, to strengthening the healthcare system in Madhya Pradesh.
"In medical colleges and their associated hospitals, junior doctors not only finalize their medical education but also assume a crucial role in delivering ongoing healthcare services to patients. To address the concerns of junior doctors, the medical education department has approved the revised stipend," he remarked in a statement.
As part of the revised stipend structure, the compensation for first-year postgraduate students has been raised from Rs 75,444 to Rs 77,662; for second-year students, from Rs 77,764 to Rs 80,050; and for third-year students, from Rs 80,086 to Rs 82,441.

Moreover, the stipend for senior resident doctors has increased from Rs 88,210 to Rs 90,803, while junior resident doctors will receive a stipend of Rs 63,324.
This approval followed protests by junior doctors across Madhya Pradesh organized by the Junior Doctors' Association (JUDA), who were advocating for the implementation of a stipend revision promised in a government order dated June 7, 2021.
The strike was suspended after Deputy Chief Minister Shukla met with a JUDA delegation in Jabalpur on March 10.
