Bhubaneswar, May 22 (NationPress) In light of the recent confirmation of one Covid-19 positive case in Bhubaneswar, Aswathy S., Secretary for the Odisha Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department, reassured the public on Thursday that there is no need for alarm regarding these occasional Covid detections.
In her statement to the press, Aswathy highlighted that this is the first new Covid-19 case identified in Odisha in over two and a half years.
She confirmed that the patient's health, who also has other underlying conditions, is currently stable.
Aswathy emphasized that the situation remains entirely under control and urged citizens not to be concerned about the sporadic emergence of Covid cases.
She remarked, “There is no cause for panic. Currently, no advisory has been issued by the Government of India or any health organization. Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation and are fully prepared. We are alert and consistently tracking developments.”
The Health Secretary pointed out that isolated and sporadic Covid cases have continued to be reported across the nation since the decline of the pandemic's peak in 2020-21.
She affirmed that the disease has been effectively managed and contained in Odisha since then.
The implementation of free vaccines and widespread vaccination campaigns, along with persistent government initiatives, has significantly curtailed the spread and impact of the disease in Odisha.
“These sporadic cases are a normal occurrence, and we address them according to established protocols as they arise. According to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and World Health Organisation (WHO), these sporadic cases are of a 'mild variety of known pre-existing strains' that do not lead to severe illness. Neither NCDC nor WHO has issued any new advisories regarding these sporadic cases. The Health Department is fully prepared to manage any cases as they appear,” Aswathy added.
Reports indicate that one Covid case was identified in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, involving a man who had recently returned from Delhi. He is currently in quarantine.
It is noteworthy that Maharashtra has reported two recent deaths related to Covid.
