Nagpur, April 15 (NationPress) President Droupadi Murmu remarked on Wednesday that we are currently experiencing a significant evolution in the healthcare landscape. She emphasized the importance of leveraging technological innovations to bridge the disparity in healthcare access between urban and rural areas, ensuring quality healthcare for everyone.

While addressing the convocation ceremony at AIIMS Nagpur, the President acknowledged that the extraordinary advancements in global medicine are propelled by technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital health solutions, and cutting-edge research. She underscored the necessity to embrace these developments.

According to her, the medical profession is not just a job; it is a commitment to serving humanity. A doctor, she noted, does more than just treat ailments; they also offer hope to patients.

“The compassionate guidance provided by doctors not only empowers the patient but also supports their families. Doctors often face difficult challenges; nevertheless, they must always show sensitivity to both the patient and their relatives. Patients and their families should also uphold respect for medical professionals, as this is vital to maintaining the trust that exists between doctors and patients,” she stated.

The President pointed out that the health of citizens is crucial for the nation’s advancement and individual health. She highlighted various measures implemented by the Government of India over the last decade to enhance healthcare delivery.

“The launch of new AIIMS facilities nationwide has improved access to superior medical care and broadened educational opportunities in medicine. I am pleased to see that in just a few years since its inception, AIIMS Nagpur has positioned itself as a premier institution for medical education, research, and outstanding healthcare services,” she remarked.

Emphasizing the responsibilities of doctors, she said, “People hold them in high regard and trust them with their health and the well-being of their loved ones. It is, therefore, the social and ethical duty of doctors to prioritize the welfare of their patients above all else. By diligently upholding this duty, they can enhance their own credibility and that of the medical field.”

She urged physicians to commit to lifelong education, describing curiosity as the cornerstone of progress. The search for innovative solutions in medical science, she explained, would not only foster their professional growth but also widen their capacity to serve.

In her advice to young medical graduates, she encouraged a strong emphasis on innovation, research, and ongoing education while adhering to the highest ethical standards. President Murmu highlighted that no technological breakthrough can substitute for compassion, integrity, and a patient-centered approach.

The President concluded by stating that those in the medical field are privileged to serve humanity and must undertake this duty with care and empathy. They should take pride in this role and uphold its values.

Expressing her belief in the graduating students, she stated they would thrive in their personal endeavors while also contributing to the health of their fellow citizens. The President further asserted that such contributions will aid the nation in achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat by the centenary of independence.
