New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) Advancements in Unani medicine are essential for improving its global recognition, stated President Droupadi Murmu.

This declaration was made during the inauguration of the International Conference, hosted by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, in celebration of Unani Day on Tuesday.

“Unani Medicine, a practice deeply rooted in ancient knowledge, has evolved over the centuries, showcasing the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation,” the President asserted while addressing attendees at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

She emphasized that innovation is crucial for ensuring that this age-old system continues to benefit humanity.

The President also honored Hakim Ajmal Khan, a freedom fighter, educator, and distinguished Unani physician, while commending CCRUM for their significant contributions to health and well-being through Unani medicine. The theme of the international conference, “Innovations in Unani Medicine for Integrative Health Solutions – A Way Forward,” is particularly pertinent in today’s fast-evolving world.

“Innovations in Unani medicine for integrative health solutions will be instrumental in broadening the acceptance and acknowledgment of Unani medicine globally,” President Murmu remarked.

She praised the substantial initiatives taken by the government via the Ministry of Ayush to promote Unani medicine, noting that “India possesses the largest network of educational, research, healthcare, and pharmaceutical institutions dedicated to Unani medicine.

The Central Council for Research in Unani medicine, with its network of 24 peripheral institutes, conducts high-level research and plays a pivotal role in the advancement and promotion of Unani medicine,” the President stated.

She expressed optimism that this conference will act as a platform for significant dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaborative initiatives.

The discussions and results from this assembly will undoubtedly aid in the progression of Unani medicine and its incorporation into mainstream healthcare.
