Bhubaneswar, Nov 7 (NationPress) The Odisha Leader of Opposition (LoP) and president of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Naveen Patnaik, conducted an impressive roadshow on Friday, engaging a vast crowd as part of his extensive campaign for the upcoming Nuapada bypoll, set for November 11.
The seasoned politician and former Chief Minister greeted numerous supporters and party members along the route, enthusiastically waving as he journeyed for three hours from Khariar Road to Nuapada. He sought the support of Nuapada's residents for the BJD and urged them to cast their votes for the party's candidate, Snehangini Chhuria.
Following the roadshow, Patnaik addressed a significant gathering at a public meeting at Parkot in Nuapada. During his speech, he criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that genuine progress cannot be achieved through mere propaganda or superficial changes. He emphasized that governance cannot thrive on unfulfilled promises.
He highlighted the substantial advancements made during the BJD administration in various sectors, including education, healthcare, connectivity, drinking water supply, irrigation, and tribal welfare. He noted that irrigation facilities were extended to thousands of acres in Nuapada, leading to marked improvements in drinking water availability.
Patnaik remarked that the Biju Expressway, constructed under the BJD government, has unlocked new avenues for Nuapada's economic growth. He accused the current BJP administration of stalling all developmental initiatives across the state.
Furthermore, he claimed that the BJP-led state government has failed to deliver on numerous electoral promises, such as providing free electricity up to 300 units and Rs 3,500 pensions for senior citizens. Patnaik also criticized the government over the scarcity of urea and issues related to the Katni Chhatni deduction during crop procurement.
The BJD leader accused the BJP government of deceiving the people of Odisha during its 500-day tenure. He mentioned attempts to disrupt attendance at his meeting in Komna on November 3, yet a large turnout from Komna attended, for which he expressed his gratitude.
“The BJP can govern through deception and can manipulate candidate selection, but they can never win the people's hearts,” stated Patnaik.
He reaffirmed that the electorate is aware of the betrayals inflicted on the BJD party and the public, including himself, and they will respond appropriately by voting for Snehangini Chhuria on November 11.
