Bhubaneswar, Nov 3 (NationPress) Former Chief Minister of Odisha and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik commenced his campaign for the upcoming Nuapada bye-election on Monday, delivering a fierce critique of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a large public gathering in the Komna block of Nuapada district.
The BJD leader accused the BJP of coming to power through 'vote theft', claiming, "They have now stolen our candidate, which is a betrayal to the people of Nuapada and the Biju Janata Dal. There is significant discontent among the populace regarding this. The residents of Nuapada will respond to this betrayal with their votes."
Patnaik also criticized the BJP-led state government, asserting that the development initiatives initiated by the former BJD administration have ground to a halt under the current regime.
He remarked, "The law and order situation in Odisha has entirely deteriorated, and the instances of violence against women have surged alarmingly. Odisha, once celebrated for its fraternity and peace, has lost its former prestige."
Patnaik highlighted the 'Mission Shakti' program, stating that it has sparked a silent revolution in Odisha. He alleged that the members tied to this initiative under the BJP government are being denied loans.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the 'Mission Shakti' workers have not received their wages for the last eight months.
LoP Patnaik declared, "This administration is solely focused on misleading publicity. They may be heroes in marketing, but they are zeros in actual performance. This state government is not a 'game changer' but merely a name changer, focused on superficial changes."
The BJD chief challenged the government regarding its unfulfilled pledges, which include 300 units of free electricity, a pension of Rs 3,500 for all senior citizens, employment opportunities for 100 youth in each panchayat, timely delivery of urea fertilizer to farmers, and addressing the illegal deductions during crop procurement.
Patnaik urged the citizens of Nuapada to support Snehangini Chhuria, the BJD candidate for the Nuapada bypolls, scheduled for November 11.
