Bhubaneswar, Oct 16 (NationPress) The competition for the Nuapada Assembly seat is intensifying in Odisha as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the primary opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD), and the Congress have unveiled their candidates.
The BJD has revealed a roster of over 50 senior leaders tasked with leading the campaign efforts in the Nuapada bypoll, with each leader assigned specific duties across various blocks and NAC areas within the district.
Among them, 18 senior leaders have been designated for campaigning in the Nuapada and Komna blocks.
Furthermore, eight leaders are assigned to lead the campaign for the party's nominee in the Nuapada and Khariar Road Notified Area Councils.
Notable figures deployed for the campaign include Pranab Prakash Das, Arun Sahoo, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pratap Deb, Umakanta Samantaray, Pradip Majhi, Niranjan Pujari, and Sanjay Das Burma.
Importantly, BJD President and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced veteran leader and former minister Snehangini Chhuria as the party's candidate for the upcoming Nuapada Assembly by-election, scheduled for November 11.
Patnaik praised the two-time BJD MLA as a robust leader from Western Odisha who has been an invaluable asset to the party.
On Thursday, the ruling BJP also released a list of 40 senior leaders to support their candidate, Jay Dholakia, during the Nuapada by-election.
This list features Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jual Oram, along with organizational leaders Sunil Bansal, Vijaypal Singh Tomar, and Lata Usendi, and Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.
Additionally, various state government ministers, BJP MPs, and MLAs are joining efforts to support the BJP candidate Dholakia.
Meanwhile, the Congress has put forward tribal leader Ghasiram Majhi as their candidate for the by-election.
