Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (NationPress) With the announcement for the by-election in the Nuapada Assembly constituency, political parties across Odisha are preparing for a fierce electoral contest.
The primary opposition party, Biju Janata Dal (BJD), convened on Wednesday to establish various committees consisting of esteemed party leaders to handle all matters concerning the bypolls in the Nuapada constituency, taking place on November 11.
As per an official directive, the party president and Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, has set up a steering committee tasked with supervising all activities related to the by-elections.
This six-member steering committee includes distinguished leaders: Prasanna Acharya, Niranjan Pujari, Snehangini Chhuria, Tukuni Sahoo, Niranjan Bisi, and Md. Ayub Khan.
In addition, a zonal committee has been formed with ten senior leaders allocated responsibilities for Zilla Parishad and Urban Local Body (ULB) zones pertinent to the bypolls.
Notably, prominent BJD figures, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the MLA from Balangir, and Sarada Nayak, the MLA from Rourkela, will oversee the Nuapada NAC.
Furthermore, Rohit Pujari and Bikram Panda have been designated to manage Khariar NAC.
Other senior BJD leaders, including Sudama Marandi, Debesh Acharya, Saroj Meher, Manohar Randhari, Pradip Majhi, and Jogesh Singh, will be in charge of various zilla Parishad zones.
The party has also established a local action committee featuring BJD leaders Adhiraj Panigrahi, Abani Joshi, and Manoj Mishra.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress has declared Ghasiram Majhi as its candidate, while both the ruling BJP and the BJD have yet to announce their nominees for the Nuapada Assembly by-election.
