Bhubaneswar, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has officially disbanded all its state-level frontal organisations. This decision comes as the party prepares for its upcoming organisational elections.

According to an official notice released by the BJD, "All State-level Frontal Organisations of the Biju Janata Dal such as Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, Biju Shramika Samukhya, Legal Cell, and Apravasi Cell are hereby dissolved with immediate effect in view of the forthcoming Organisational Election of the Party."

The party has reappointed senior leader and MLA Pratap Keshari Deb as the state returning officer for these organisational polls for the third consecutive time.

In accordance with Article-XXIII (2) of the BJD Constitution, “Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, MLA is hereby appointed as State Returning Officer to ensure the smooth conduct of the Organizational Election of Biju Janata Dal with immediate effect,” stated BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Monday.

Upon receiving this responsibility, senior leader Deb expressed his gratitude to Patnaik for the continued trust placed in him.

He informed the media that the elections for various organisational bodies will take place in four distinct phases.

Deb elaborated that elections would commence at the grassroots level, followed by block level, district level, and finally at the state level.

He also mentioned that an election schedule will be released soon and that officers will be appointed to oversee and monitor the elections before they commence.

Deb disclosed that the entire organisational election process is expected to be completed within three months. The BJD aims to fortify its organisational structure from grassroots to state level in preparation for the Panchayat and urban local body elections set for 2027.

BJD leaders maintain that the party continues to be the leading political force in the state.
