Bhubaneswar, Feb 3 (NationPress) The organizational elections for the primary opposition party in Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), are set to conclude by the first week of April, as announced by a party official on Monday.
BJD leader Pradip Kumar Amat disclosed this information following a meeting of the party's coordination committee held at Sankha Bhawan here.
The gathering was attended by prominent party leaders to deliberate on various matters concerning the organizational elections.
Amat informed reporters that, under the guidance of BJD President Naveen Patnaik, the coordination committee convened under the leadership of Debi Prasad Mishra on Monday.
He further mentioned that various advisory committee members, including Prasanna Acharya, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pramila Mallik, along with 13 members of the coordination committee, participated in the meeting.
Additional BJD leaders attended the session virtually.
The State Returning Officer, Pratap Keshari Deb, detailed all aspects related to the organizational elections during the meeting.
He indicated that the organizational poll process has initiated after discussions with leaders from both the constituency and district levels.
"In the first week of February, District Returning Officers will be appointed. Subsequently, Assistant Returning Officers and other officials will be assigned. The complete election process for all executive committees and state councils will be finalized by the first week of April or before the traditional Odia New Year," stated Amat.
He mentioned that the newly elected members of the executive committees and state councils will subsequently elect the party president.
The senior BJD leader also dismissed speculation regarding conflicts between senior and junior leaders within the party.
He emphasized that there are no signs of dissent within the BJD.
Previously, the party dissolved all state-level frontal organizations, including Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Biju Yuva Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, Biju Shramika Samukhya, Legal Cell, and Apravasi Cell, in anticipation of the upcoming organizational election of the BJD.
