SVP Hospital's Outpatient Care Surges to Over 14.5 Lakh in Seven Years

Ahmedabad, March 11 (NationPress) The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital has successfully provided care to a remarkable total of 14,53,638 outpatients (OPD) from 2019 to 2025, showcasing a significant milestone in its impressive seven-year journey since its inception.
Operated by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) alongside NHL Medical College, the hospital has witnessed substantial advancement in its inpatient, surgical, laboratory, and radiology services during this timeframe.
“In just seven years, our OPD services have nearly tripled, growing from 1,27,764 patients in 2019 to 4,01,869 patients in 2025. This remarkable surge demonstrates the confidence that the residents of Ahmedabad have in SVP Hospital,” stated officials.
Inpatient admissions (IPD) have also surged from 14,167 in 2019 to 31,332 in 2025, while surgical procedures increased from 4,082 to 8,999 during the same period.
Looking at surgical services, 4,082 surgeries were recorded in 2019. The number rose to 2,168 in 2020, followed by 1,428 in 2021. By 2022, surgeries increased to 3,584, climbing to 6,893 in 2023, 8,153 in 2024, and finally reaching 8,999 surgeries in 2025, highlighting significant growth in surgical operations over the years.
Laboratory tests showed an increase from 1,65,874 in 2019 to 7,64,135 by 2025, and radiology investigations expanded from 68,418 to 2,28,092.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, 75,617 beneficiaries received treatment from 2019 to 2025. Annual figures include 7,999 in 2019, 3,453 in 2020, 4,534 in 2022, 15,148 in 2023, 20,506 in 2024, and 23,977 in 2025.
“This represents the highest number of beneficiaries supported by a single multi-specialty hospital under the scheme in Ahmedabad,” the officials added.
The state government’s 'Road Traffic Accident (RTA) – Vehicle Accident Assistance Scheme' has facilitated free treatment for 6,810 patients during the same period. In 2025 alone, 2,065 accident victims were treated, a significant increase from 687 in 2019.
Hospital officials attribute this growth to the enhancement of modern medical facilities, the availability of specialist doctors, and the expansion of comprehensive treatment services.
