In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Herzog described it as "a very sad and challenging morning."
"Our sisters and brothers were slain and harmed last night due to heinous Iranian strikes targeting civilian areas in Bat Yam, Tamra, and other communities. This tragedy has impacted Jews and Arabs alike, from veteran residents to new immigrants, including children, the elderly, and both men and women," he expressed.
"I stand in solidarity with the mourning families and share in their profound grief over this devastating loss. I am praying for the swift recovery of the injured and for the safe return of the missing. Together, we will grieve. Together, we will rise again," he continued.
The missile strikes hit cities such as Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, and the northern region of Tamra, causing extensive damage. Reports indicate that in Bat Yam, efforts are ongoing to locate approximately 20 individuals who remain unaccounted for, as noted by The Times of Israel.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that units from the Home Front Command's Search and Rescue Brigade are actively working at locations affected by the Iranian missile attacks.
