Sanaa, June 15 (NationPress) Yemen's Houthis made a declaration on Sunday, asserting that they were responsible for missile strikes directed at Israel within the last 24 hours.
In solidarity with the Palestinian and Iranian peoples, and in retaliation for the acts of starvation and thirst inflicted by the Zionist enemy on their brethren in the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni Armed Forces' missile division (Houthi missile force) executed a military operation aimed at critical Israeli targets in the occupied Tel Aviv region, employing numerous hypersonic ballistic missiles at different times over the past day,” stated Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea during a televised address aired by Houthi-operated al-Masirah TV, as reported by Xinhua.
“This operation was synchronized with assaults conducted by the Iranian army and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard against the criminal Israeli adversary,” Sarea added.
The Houthi military spokesperson pledged that his faction would persist in launching missile strikes against Israel until “the war and blockade on Gaza conclude,” according to Xinhua.
Simultaneously, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported on the social media platform X that “projectiles” launched from Yemen activated alarms throughout Israel on Saturday night and early Sunday, although they did not specify whether these “projectiles” were intercepted. The Houthi missile assaults coincided with waves of Iranian missile attacks on Tel Aviv. Videos captured by Israeli residents on Saturday night and early Sunday morning depicted multiple missiles striking targets in various Israeli cities.
The Houthi group, based in Yemen and controlling a significant portion of northern Yemen, has been executing missile and drone strikes against Israeli positions since November 2023 to express their solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
On Saturday night, residents in the Yemeni capital Sanaa experienced a loud blast as a strike impacted a residence in southern Sanaa. Meanwhile, Israeli TV 12 reported that an Israeli airstrike targeted a home in Sanaa, claiming it was a “secret meeting of Houthi military leaders.”
No official response has been provided by the Houthis regarding the Israeli airstrike on the residence in Sanaa.
