Israeli Forces Neutralize Missile Threat from Yemen

Jerusalem, Dec 25 (NationPress) Israel's air defence systems successfully intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Wednesday, as reported by the Israeli military in an official statement.

The missile was neutralized before it could enter Israeli airspace, according to the military.

Sirens were activated throughout central Israel due to the risk of debris falling from the interception, as noted by the military.

Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency response service, reported that they attended to at least nine individuals who sustained injuries while rushing to safety.

This marks the fifth occasion in a week where millions of Israeli citizens were directed to shelters due to attacks from Houthi militants in Yemen, as stated by the Israel Defense Forces on X.

Since October of the previous year, Houthi forces have intermittently launched missile and drone assaults on Israel, citing their support for the Palestinians in Gaza.

In retaliation, Israel has conducted multiple significant airstrikes, with the latest reported last Thursday, according to Xinhua news agency.

On Tuesday, the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching a hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Tel Aviv in the early hours, which Israel confirmed was successfully intercepted.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated, “In solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, we targeted a military installation in Tel Aviv with a hypersonic ballistic missile.” He assured that their group would continue to mount further attacks against Israel, asserting that the US-led airstrikes on their positions in Yemen would not deter their efforts.

“We are fully equipped and ready to confront the Israeli-American-British aggression on Yemen,” he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed intercepting another missile launched by the Houthis.

This missile, aimed at Tel Aviv, activated air-raid sirens across central and southern Israel, compelling millions to seek refuge just before 2 am local time (0000 GMT).

The IDF reiterated, “A projectile launched from Yemen was intercepted before entering Israeli territory,” stressing that the sirens were sounded as a precaution due to falling shrapnel concerns.

This missile strike followed a previous day’s drone attack from the Houthis targeting Israel, which was also intercepted, according to the IDF.
