Key Takeaways
Mexico City, March 11 (NationPress) President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that a total of 1,009 Mexican citizens have successfully evacuated from the conflict zones in the Middle East.
During her daily press briefing on Tuesday, Sheinbaum revealed that these nationals have traveled by land, with Turkey being one of the countries facilitating flights.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the evacuation efforts led by Mexican embassies across the Middle East have enabled the safe exit of nationals from Israel, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Qatar.
Travel to the Middle East remains inadvisable as the conflict continues, the ministry stated, adding that Mexican embassies in the area are on alert to provide consular assistance and protection, as reported by Xinhua.
Previously, on March 4, President Sheinbaum had informed that 279 Mexican citizens had been evacuated by land from various Middle Eastern nations due to the ongoing military conflict.
Sheinbaum noted that most of these individuals have traveled by land to Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey, where airspace remains operational, during her daily address at the National Palace.
On March 1, the President emphasized Mexico's commitment to advocating for global peace amid the recent military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran.
"Mexico will consistently promote world peace, which is crucial at this juncture," Sheinbaum stated during an event in Baja California Sur.
She highlighted that the nation's constitution mandates Mexico's foreign policy to be centered on the self-determination of peoples, non-intervention, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
The large-scale airstrikes initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran began on February 28, leading Tehran to retaliate with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US military installations in the Gulf.
