New Delhi, Aug 2 (NationPress) Arvinder Singh Bahal, a real estate investor of Indian descent, is poised to embark on an extraordinary journey to the edge of space aboard Blue Origin, the space tourism venture of Jeff Bezos. Hailing from Agra, Bahal has become a naturalized citizen of the United States and has a passion for adventure, having traveled from the North Pole to the South Pole.
This upcoming mission marks Blue Origin’s 14th human flight to suborbital space, with a total duration of 11 minutes, during which the crew will reach the Kármán line—the globally accepted threshold of space.
The crew consists of Bahal, Gökhan Erdem, Deborah Martorell, Lionel Pitchford, J.D. Russell, and H.E. Justin Sun, who secured the first seat on the New Shepard in a 2021 auction.
According to Blue Origin, “Arvi, born in Agra, India, is a naturalized US citizen and a dedicated adventurer. He has traveled to every nation on earth, visited both poles, and completed skydives over Mount Everest and the Pyramids of Giza.”
He also possesses a private pilot’s license and is proficient in flying helicopters.
On the crew, Erdem is a Turkish entrepreneur and enthusiastic space advocate, while Martorell serves as a meteorologist and journalist from Puerto Rico. Pitchford, originally from England, has devoted four decades in Spain as a teacher, translator, and tour guide. Russell is a serial entrepreneur who founded Alpha Funds, a venture capital firm focused on technology.
The team will be aboard the New Shepard rocket, which has successfully carried 70 individuals past the Kármán line so far, according to the company.
Although the exact date for the flight has not yet been disclosed, this mission will mark the 34th of New Shepard’s missions and the fifth in this year alone.
