Kabul, Feb 8 (NationPress) Authorities have seized 12 kg of illegal narcotics in the Baghlan province of northern Afghanistan and apprehended an individual linked to drug trafficking in the area, reported district police chief Qari Naqibullah Muhammadi on Saturday.
The contraband, which includes 12 kg of hashish, was found in the Banu district of the province. The police have also taken one drug smuggler into custody.
Officials stated that police will not tolerate the production or smuggling of hashish, poppy, or materials used in heroin manufacturing within the province.
In another incident, Afghan counter-narcotics police intercepted 102 kg of methamphetamine in Nangarhar province in eastern Afghanistan, as per a statement from the office of the Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics.
This contraband was located at the Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and one individual was apprehended in connection with this case, with the matter referred to the judiciary for further action, according to Xinhua news agency.
Additionally, Afghan police previously seized 200 kg of methamphetamine during operations in the western province of Nimroz last September.
