Washington, Sep 29 (NationPress) Tara Chand, the President of Baloch American Congress, has reached out to President Donald Trump of the United States, urging him to confront the ongoing human rights abuses perpetrated by the Pakistani military in Balochistan. These violations include enforced disappearances, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

In his correspondence with the President, the Baloch leader underscored the enduring systematic oppression inflicted by Pakistani authorities across Balochistan, where the local populace, land, and resources have been exploited without their consent, while the international community has largely turned a blind eye to their pleas for justice.

"The Pakistani military, led by a Punjabi elite, has leveraged Balochistan's riches as a bargaining chip in international negotiations, concurrently subjecting the Baloch people to enforced disappearances, military operations, censorship, and economic disenfranchisement. Mr. President, this transcends mere regional concerns; it is a fundamental moral issue. It pertains to a nation striving for its right to self-determination, to live freely, and to manage its own resources," the letter articulated.

"You have often championed the cause of sovereignty and standing against injustice. We now implore you to extend that principle to the oppressed Baloch nation, whose suffering has been obscured by a facade of state propaganda and tactical alliances," it further stated.

Chand emphasized that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly the Gwadar Seaport, symbolizes the exploitation of Balochistan’s resources without local consent. He noted that these initiatives have brought no advantages to the Baloch people; instead, they have resulted in more military checkpoints, land seizures, and displacement.

He affirmed that the presence of China in Balochistan is met with strong resentment from the locals, and their opposition is intensifying.

The Baloch leader urged President Trump to publicly acknowledge the right of the Baloch people to self-determination as stipulated by international law and to abstain from any agreements or strategic partnerships with Pakistan that involve Balochistan's resources without consulting the indigenous population.

Additionally, Chand called for support for international efforts to investigate and halt the genocide and cultural erasure faced by the Baloch people. He also appealed to Trump to encourage American and Western corporations to refrain from investing in CPEC or Pakistani-led projects in Balochistan that lack the free, prior, and informed consent of the local community.

"History will remember those who stood with oppressed nations during their time of need. The Baloch are a proud and ancient people who have never acquiesced to occupation, nor will they ever relinquish their right to exist with dignity," the letter concluded.

"You can amplify global awareness of their plight and ensure that the ideals of liberty and justice are applied universally. We urge you to stand with the Baloch, not with those who aim to silence them," it finished.
