China Implements Visa Restrictions on US Officials Due to Hong Kong Interference

Beijing, Dec 10 (NationPress) China has made the decision to enforce visa restrictions on US personnel due to their interference in Hong Kong affairs, as stated by a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Mao Ning revealed this information during a regular press conference, reacting to the recent US announcement regarding visa restrictions targeting officials from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.
"We have already articulated our firm position regarding US actions," Mao stated, adding that the United States has severely interfered in China’s internal matters and has significantly breached the principles of international law and fundamental norms governing international relations by misusing visa restrictions against Chinese officials under the guise of Hong Kong-related issues.
In line with the relevant provisions of the Law on Foreign Relations of the People’s Republic of China and the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Countering Foreign Sanctions, China has opted to impose visa restrictions on US individuals who act with malice concerning Hong Kong-related matters, Mao mentioned, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The spokesperson stressed that Hong Kong is an integral part of China and that matters concerning Hong Kong are purely domestic affairs.
"We urge the United States to sincerely respect China’s sovereignty, uphold the rule of law in Hong Kong, and cease all forms of interference in Hong Kong affairs," Mao added.
China is resolute in protecting its national sovereignty, security, and developmental interests, fully committed to the implementation of the "one country, two systems" policy, and remains steadfast in opposing any external forces meddling in Hong Kong matters, noted Mao.
