China Expresses Outrage Over Canada's 'Baseless Claims' on Human Rights

Beijing, Dec 12 (NationPress) China has voiced significant protests and condemned Canada for its sanctions against certain Chinese individuals regarding alleged human rights violations, demanding that Canada rectify its mistakes immediately, as stated by a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday.
The spokesperson, Mao Ning, made these remarks while responding to inquiries following a routine press briefing.
"China has clearly articulated its rightful stance regarding Canada's actions," Mao stated, further adding that the entire situation is a shameful and hypocritical political maneuver by some Canadian officials under the guise of human rights, aimed at advancing an unacceptable agenda and winning favor with the United States. "This is evident to many globally," she remarked.
Mao emphasized that Canada's unfounded accusations about China's human rights and the unjust sanctions imposed on Chinese individuals are egregious and bear severe consequences. She stated that China has lodged serious protests and expressed vehement condemnation towards Canada, urging it to correct its errors immediately.
China will adopt all necessary measures to robustly protect our nation's sovereignty, security, and development interests, Mao affirmed.
On Wednesday, China had called on Canada to reflect on its own circumstances and halt its interference in China's internal matters.
Mao Ning accused the Canadian government of making false allegations in the name of human rights.
She highlighted that this constitutes a gross intrusion into China's domestic affairs and is a significant violation of international law and fundamental principles governing international relations. China categorically opposes and denounces Canada's actions, she stated.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson indicated that Canada has its own array of human rights challenges, noting that its human rights record is far from immaculate. Even now, the indigenous population of Canada experiences systemic racial discrimination and inequitable treatment.
"Rather than addressing these issues, Canada has opted to slander and malign other nations, fabricating lies about China's purported human rights problems. This behavior resembles a thief shouting 'Stop, thief!' and will not persuade the global community," Mao commented.
The reality has exposed Canada's double standards and hypocrisy, she asserted. Canada is not in a position to lecture others on human rights or criticize the human rights situations in other nations, and it lacks the authority to act as a judge and impose sanctions arbitrarily.
