Beijing, Dec 8 (NationPress) - In a statement, a representative from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized China, Russia, and India as "emerging economies" and vital components of the Global South. The spokesperson emphasized that strengthening relationships among these three nations would not only benefit their individual interests but also enhance regional and global peace, security, stability, and prosperity.
During a standard press briefing in Beijing, Guo Jiakun, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed China's commitment to collaborate with both Russia and India to foster the development of their bilateral relations. He highlighted China's readiness to approach and manage their relationship with India from a strategic and long-term perspective, aiming to ensure the steady progress of their ties.
Responding to questions regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's recent visit to New Delhi and his remarks about India-China relations, Guo Jiakun reiterated, "China, Russia, and India are all emerging economies and important members of the Global South. Maintaining good relationships among the three countries not only serves their own interests but also contributes to regional and global peace, security, stability, and prosperity."
Guo added that China is eager to work with India to view and handle the bilateral relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective, thereby promoting a sustainable, healthy, and stable development of these ties to benefit both nations and their peoples while contributing to the maintenance of peace and prosperity in Asia and globally.
President Putin's two-day official visit to India, which took place from December 4-5, included extensive discussions, ceremonial activities, and bilateral meetings addressing defense, economic cooperation, energy relations, and regional security.
During his visit, President Putin engaged in formal discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which both leaders assessed the state of the India-Russia partnership as it marks 25 years since being labeled a Strategic Partnership. These discussions were followed by the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, where both parties issued a Joint Statement outlining priorities for the upcoming years.
President Putin was also honored with a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on December 5. In her address, President Murmu characterized the India-Russia relationship as "steadfast for many years" and expressed confidence that it would continue to grow stronger in the future.
