Beijing, Feb 28 (NationPress) Chinese President Xi Jinping had a meeting with Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council, in Beijing on Friday.
Highlighting that China and Russia share a bond as friendly neighbors and true friends, Xi noted that he and President Vladimir Putin have engaged in discussions twice this year, establishing comprehensive plans for enhancing China-Russia relations and having in-depth conversations on numerous significant international and regional matters.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining close communication at all levels to effectively realize the agreements made between the two heads of state, thereby fostering enduring good-neighborliness, friendship, comprehensive strategic alignment, and mutually beneficial cooperation between the nations.
Shoigu relayed President Putin's warm regards to President Xi, indicating that Putin greatly appreciates the genuine friendship and ongoing contact with Xi, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.
Shoigu pointed out that the ties between Russia and China have achieved an unprecedented peak and are not aimed at any third-party nations.
China's chief diplomat Wang Yi also conducted a strategic dialogue with Shoigu on the same day.
Wang remarked that under the strategic direction of both heads of state, China-Russia relations will persist in being robust and steadfast.
Recently, leaders from both countries had a telephone conversation following a video conference earlier this year, discussing the enhancement of strategic coordination and the promotion of global stability. This highlighted the elevated and unique nature of China-Russia relations and underscored the responsible roles played by the heads of state of these two major nations, Wang stated.
He urged both sides to adhere to the implementation of the consensus reached by the two leaders, maintain close coordination, and continually strengthen mutual trust and collaboration in strategic security.
