Oslo, Sep 26 (NationPress) Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that the nation is currently experiencing a "hybrid war" following multiple drone sightings above airports and military sites this week, identifying it as part of a larger trend of threats across Europe.
"What we are witnessing in Denmark at this moment is a hybrid war. It reflects a pattern we are observing in several other European nations," Frederiksen conveyed to Danish broadcaster DR on Thursday. "This signifies a new security policy landscape, and it is far from concluded."
Significant drones were spotted late Wednesday over Denmark's Aalborg Airport, Esbjerg Airport, Sonderborg Airport, the Skrydstrup military air base, and a military facility in Holstebro, as reported by police and defense officials.
On Monday evening, operations at Copenhagen's Kastrup Airport were halted for about four hours due to drone incidents, impacting nearly 20,000 passengers. Additionally, in nearby Norway, Oslo's Gardermoen Airport had to close around midnight Monday following drone sightings, according to the Xinhua news agency.
Authorities have initiated investigations to trace the source of the drones and identify those accountable.
Speculation has arisen regarding potential Russian involvement; however, defense officials have stated that there is currently no evidence linking these incidents to Russia.
The Russian Embassy in Denmark also refuted any connection to the drone activities in the country, declaring, "Russia firmly dismisses the ludicrous speculations regarding its involvement in these incidents," in a statement sent to DR.
