Kuala Lumpur, Oct 27 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar conducted a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Mohamad Haji Hasan during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on Monday, focusing on the advancements in their bilateral cooperation.
In their discussions, EAM Jaishankar and Mohamad Haji Hasan also addressed the prevailing conditions in Myanmar.
As the Chair of ASEAN, Malaysia is hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits themed "Inclusivity and Sustainability" in Kuala Lumpur.
"A warm meeting with FM Mohamad Haji Hasan of Malaysia. Conveyed our best wishes for successful ASEAN and East Asia Summits. Discussed the progress in our bilateral cooperation. Exchanged views on the Myanmar situation," EAM Jaishankar shared on X.
The EAM is representing Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 20th East Asia Summit in Kuala Lumpur. According to a prior statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), "The East Asia Summit will offer a platform to discuss challenges to peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and facilitate exchanges on regional and international developments."
Earlier that day, EAM Jaishankar met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, extending warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Post-meeting, Jaishankar posted on X, "A pleasure meeting PM Christopher Luxon of New Zealand on the sidelines of ASEAN 2025 meetings. Extended warm greetings from PM Narendra Modi. Welcome his commitment to advance our bilateral cooperation and nurture a free and open Indo-Pacific."
On the same day, Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and appreciated the discussions surrounding bilateral relationships and regional as well as global matters. This meeting takes place amidst ongoing trade negotiations between the two nations.

On Sunday, EAM Jaishankar met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, relaying PM Modi’s wishes for a successful ASEAN Summit.
