Port Louis, April 10 (NationPress) The External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar met with President Dharambeer Gokhool of Mauritius on Friday, delivering the warm regards of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
EAM Jaishankar emphasized that their discussion showcased the strong friendship shared between the two nations and their unwavering commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.
"I am honored to have met President Dharambeer Gokhool of Mauritius. I conveyed the warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our dialogue highlighted the depth of our friendship and our shared commitment to furthering the India-Mauritius partnership," EAM Jaishankar noted on X.
Additionally, EAM Jaishankar had an audience with former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, expressing gratitude for his dedication to fostering bilateral ties.
"It was a pleasure to meet former Prime Minister and MSM Party leader Pravind Kumar Jugnauth. I appreciate his strong commitment to the India-Mauritius partnership," he shared on X following their meeting.
On Thursday, EAM Jaishankar also met with Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius, extending warm wishes from PM Modi.
Describing the partnership between India and Mauritius as both comprehensive and meaningful, Jaishankar noted significant advancements over the past year in various sectors.
"I was pleased to meet Prime Minister Ramgoolam of Mauritius and conveyed PM Narendra Modi's good wishes. Our expansive partnership has made remarkable strides in the past year, covering several aspects such as development cooperation, health, education, capacity building, mobility, technology, maritime security, and people-to-people connections, as well as developments in West Asia and their implications. I deeply value PM Ramgoolam’s steadfast commitment to our enduring friendship," he posted on X.
EAM Jaishankar is currently on an official visit to Mauritius from April 9-10, where he is also participating in the 9th Indian Ocean Conference.
Following this, EAM Jaishankar will continue his official tour with a visit to the UAE starting April 11. During his two-day stay, he aims to engage with UAE leaders to review and strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
