New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar convened with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko on Friday to deliberate on enhancing the multifaceted bilateral cooperation.
After their discussions, EAM Jaishankar expressed via a post on X, "It was a pleasure meeting Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko from Russia today. We explored avenues to advance our multifaceted bilateral cooperation. We also shared insights on critical regional, global, and multilateral matters."
Earlier in October, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a telephonic dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where the two leaders evaluated the progress of their bilateral agenda and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.
During the call, PM Modi congratulated Putin on his 73rd birthday, extending his best wishes for his well-being and success in his endeavors. He also expressed anticipation for President Putin's visit to India in December for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
PM Modi previously visited Russia to participate in the 22nd India-Russia Summit held in Moscow on July 8-9, 2024. Following the summit, a Joint Statement was released titled “India-Russia: Enduring and Expanding Partnership.”
In September, both leaders met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, where they reaffirmed their commitment to further fortify the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between their countries and discussed various regional and global issues, including the latest developments concerning Ukraine.
EAM Jaishankar also had discussions with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York in September.
