Kolkata, Nov 8 (NationPress) Rebel Trinamool Congress legislator Humayun Kabir, representing the Bharatpur Assembly constituency in Murshidabad district, declared on Saturday that he will officially unveil his own political party and disclose its name on December 22.
“I have no intention of returning to my previous party, the Congress. I am set to formally establish my own party and will announce its name on December 22. This new political venture will commence with around 50,000 activists, primarily from Murshidabad. I will serve as the chairman of this new political entity, and on December 22, I will also reveal the names of the key office bearers,” Kabir informed the media at his residence in Baharampur on Saturday evening.
Earlier this week, Kabir expressed his decision to cut ties with the Trinamool Congress and launch a new political organization. At that time, he did not dismiss the idea of forming an electoral alliance with the CPI-M-led Left Front. On Saturday, he officially announced the date for the launch of his new party.
Kabir mentioned that his political organization intends to participate in the upcoming assembly elections in the state next year. “Apart from Murshidabad, we will also put forward candidates from Nadia, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, and North Dinajpur districts,” he stated.
In the past, Kabir has found himself at the center of controversies due to his remarks against the party, often causing embarrassment for the senior leadership of the Trinamool Congress. Recently, Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee cautioned Humayun Kabir in a meeting that such conduct would not be condoned.
Nevertheless, despite multiple warnings, Kabir has persisted in his criticisms of the Trinamool Congress and its leadership.
He has also spoken out against Berhampore Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan.
Previously, MLA Kabir had faced reprimands from the Trinamool Congress leadership on several occasions and had even received show-cause notices for making public statements that embarrassed the party.
Despite being admonished numerous times, the legislator from Bharatpur has continued his actions and controversial remarks.
