Bhopal, Nov 8 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Saturday that district collectors are instructed to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the esteemed freedom fighter and tribal leader Birsa Munda with utmost respect and honor.

"District collectors are tasked with orchestrating a range of social and cultural events, particularly in areas populated by tribal communities and development blocks," he stated.

The state government has outlined numerous initiatives to be executed for this occasion, with a primary focus on the Jabalpur and Alirajpur districts.

"Community members will take part in processions and activities adorned in their traditional attire, playing their cultural instruments. Chariot processions (Rath Yatras) from various locations will gather at the district headquarters by November 14," the Chief Minister added.

Special events are also on the agenda, including the Baiga Conference for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups in Mandla, the Bhagoria Festival in Alirajpur, the Bharia Conference in Chhindwara, the Tantya Mama Balidan Diwas in Patalpani, and the Mata Shabari Jayanti Conference in Satna.

Since 2021, Janjatiy Gaurav Diwas has been celebrated with great enthusiasm to acknowledge the sacrifices made by freedom fighters from the tribal community and to highlight the richness of their culture.

This celebration was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Madhya Pradesh, launching several beneficiary schemes for tribal communities during an event held at Bhopal's Jamboori Maidan on November 15, 2021.

Under the guidance of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Ulgulan Revolution challenged British colonial rule, serving as a vital force not only against oppression but also as a catalyst for national awakening.

"In recognition of Birsa Munda's courageous leadership against British authority, November 15—his birth anniversary—serves as a moment to celebrate our tribal heroes," the Chief Minister remarked.
