New Delhi, Feb 2 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar is set to commence a three-day visit to the United States starting Monday, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This visit is aimed at participating in the Critical Minerals Ministerial chaired by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
As per the MEA, the focus of the Ministerial will be on enhancing supply chain resilience, transitioning to clean energy, and fostering strategic collaboration in critical minerals.
From February 2-4, EAM Jaishankar will engage in discussions with high-ranking officials from the US administration.
Just last week, EAM Jaishankar had a meeting with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor in New Delhi, addressing various aspects of the bilateral relationship.
In welcoming Gor, EAM Jaishankar expressed optimism about his potential contributions to fortifying ties between India and the United States.
“I was pleased to meet US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor today in New Delhi. Our discussion spanned many dimensions of our partnership. I welcomed him and expressed my belief that he would play a vital role in enhancing India-US relations,” EAM Jaishankar stated on X.
On January 25, EAM Jaishankar also met a US Congressional delegation, including Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, along with Sergio Gor, where they deliberated on ways to strengthen bilateral relations, the situation in the Indo-Pacific region, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Following those discussions, EAM Jaishankar shared on X: “Interactions with Congress have always been a crucial element of our relationship.”
Earlier, on January 13, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had a phone conversation with EAM Jaishankar, during which they reviewed essential areas of collaboration, such as civil nuclear energy, trade negotiations, and regional security in the Indo-Pacific.
Describing it as a constructive call, US Ambassador Sergio Gor commented, “They discussed forthcoming steps regarding our bilateral trade talks, critical minerals, and a potential meeting next month,” on X.
