New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) The US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gor, expressed enthusiasm on Thursday regarding the recent interactions between the leadership of the two nations, indicating that Washington is poised to further enhance its relationship with New Delhi.
Gor shared photographs of External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar engaging with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent in Washington.
He stated, "Engagement at the highest levels is currently occurring. The United States is ready to elevate this relationship even further. Limitless Potential!"
EAM Jaishankar, who is currently visiting the US, participated in the Critical Minerals Ministerial convened by Rubio on Wednesday, where he voiced India’s commitment to structured international collaboration to mitigate risks in critical mineral supply chains.
During his visit, Jaishankar engaged in separate discussions with Rubio and Bessent, covering extensive topics related to the India-US strategic and economic partnership.
“I was delighted to meet US Secretary Marco Rubio this afternoon,” Jaishankar mentioned in a post on X after their meeting. “We engaged in a broad discussion that encompassed our bilateral cooperation agenda and various regional and global issues.”
He added that their discussions touched on several aspects of the India-US relationship, including trade, energy, nuclear, defense, critical minerals, and technology.
The External Affairs Minister noted that both parties agreed to move swiftly on follow-up engagements, stating, “We concurred on the prompt organization of various mechanisms to advance our mutual interests.”
A readout from the State Department revealed that the two leaders discussed formalizing bilateral cooperation pertaining to critical minerals exploration, mining, and processing — an area now recognized as a crucial pillar of the India–US economic and strategic relationship.
This meeting occurred amid the announcement of a trade deal aimed at reducing barriers and increasing market access between the two largest democracies in the world.
Both Rubio and Jaishankar welcomed the agreement, emphasizing the significance of the two democracies collaborating to unlock new economic opportunities and further their shared energy security goals, according to the readout.
The discussions also addressed the regional and multilateral aspects of their partnership. Both leaders concluded their meeting by reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation through the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, acknowledging that a prosperous Indo-Pacific region is essential to advancing their shared interests.
EAM Jaishankar also met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in Washington. “I was pleased to meet US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent today in Washington, DC,” he noted in a separate post.
Jaishankar characterized the talks as constructive, stating, “We had a productive discussion on advancing the India-US economic partnership and strategic cooperation.”
