Tel Aviv, Feb 20 (NationPress) Hamas's disturbing and inhumane act of displaying the coffins of four Israeli hostages on Thursday before transferring them to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) team in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, has sparked widespread outrage, not only from Israel but across the globe.

This marked the initial repatriation of deceased hostages under a continuing ceasefire agreement. The handover took place near the Bani Suhaila cemetery, amidst a military parade featuring members of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed faction of Hamas, as well as other Palestinian groups. A significant assembly of masked militants surrounded a platform where the coffins were displayed.

The deceased individuals included Shiri Bibas, her two children Kfir and Ariel Bibas, and an elderly man named Oded Lifshitz, all of whom lost their lives in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict with Israel.

Upon the arrival of the ICRC team, a member of the al-Qassam Brigades raised a black curtain, unveiling four black wooden coffins adorned with images of the deceased.

The manner in which Hamas militants transferred the bodies of these four Israeli civilians has faced intense global backlash.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, labeled the display of bodies in Gaza as “abhorrent” and a breach of international law.

Social media erupted with harsh critiques of the inhumane display.

Former Israeli ambassador to the UN and the US, Gilad Erdan, condemned the act on X, stating, “Even in Nazi Germany, there were Germans who saved Jews. Not a single Gazan saved a single hostage.” He emphasized the need to eradicate Hamas and to demilitarize Gaza.

Former UK Secretary of State and Conservative MP, Suella Braverman, expressed her sorrow on X, stating, “Today is a heart-breaking day: we mourn with the Bibas and Lifshitz families.” She reaffirmed the commitment to continue fighting for the release of hostages.

German Parliament member, Lamya Kaddor, shared her grief on X, stating, “The news of the death of the Bibas family is unbearable.” She also criticized the disturbing spectacle of the hostage handover.

After Hamas announced the transfer of the deceased, former US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, declared on X, “Shame on any media outlet that can’t call this what it is, murder.” She emphasized that these individuals were not simply casualties but were kidnapped and murdered by terrorists, urging for the destruction of Hamas once and for all.
