Hezbollah Pledges Support for Syrian Government Amid Rebel Attacks

Beirut, Dec 6 (NationPress) Hezbollah will extend its support to the Syrian government in light of the increasing offensives by rebel factions, as stated by Hezbollah leader Sheikh Naim Qassem during a televised address.

While Qassem did not specify the nature of the support, he affirmed on Thursday that Hezbollah would "do what it could".

Qassem accused the United States and Israel of provoking aggression against Syria due to their failures in Gaza. He also asserted that "terrorist groups" aim to alter Syria's stance from backing the resistance to supporting the Israeli occupation, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

"We confront a highly perilous Israeli initiative targeting the Middle East," he cautioned.

His remarks came shortly after Syrian opposition forces seized the crucial city of Homs in central Syria, representing a major advancement in their offensive that commenced on November 27. The rebels had previously taken control of Aleppo, Syria's second-largest city, in earlier attacks.

The United Nations World Food Program indicated that over 280,000 individuals have been displaced due to the recent violence, according to a post on X.
