Israeli Military Strikes Targets Along Syria-Lebanon Border

Jerusalem, Dec 7 (NationPress) The Israeli Air Force executed airstrikes on weapon-smuggling routes and military facilities adjacent to the Syrian-Lebanese border during the night, as articulated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a recent statement.

As reported by the IDF on Friday, these routes were utilized by Hezbollah for the transportation of weapons, according to the Xinhua news agency.

The IDF highlighted, “This strike is part of the IDF’s ongoing efforts to dismantle weapon-smuggling routes operated by the Syrian regime along the Syrian-Lebanese border in recent weeks.”

The IDF underscored that the strikes were directed at diminishing Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which it identified as responsible for smuggling arms used in terror attacks against Israeli civilians and military personnel.

The statement further asserted, “The IDF will not permit Hezbollah to rearm or restore its capabilities.”

In recent years, Israel has conducted numerous airstrikes in Syria, targeting what it alleges are weapons depots, transport vehicles, and facilities associated with Iran and its allied factions, including Hezbollah. Such operations have faced backlash from the global community.

On Thursday, Hezbollah’s leader, Naim Qassem, stated that his organization will continue to support the Syrian government amidst escalating rebel offensives.

Qassem charged that the US and Israel are exacerbating tensions in Syria as part of a wider strategy responding to their failures in Gaza.

He claimed that “terrorist groups” are attempting to divert Syria’s alliances away from supporting regional resistance movements towards aligning with Israeli interests.
