Vienna, Oct 7 (NationPress) Several rounds of shelling were reported near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) during a period of extended off-site power loss, raising growing risks to its nuclear safety and security, as indicated by a statement from the UN nuclear watchdog.
The shelling took place in the afternoon, with approximately 15 rounds fired at distances both near and medium from the facility. The ZNPP communicated to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that two rounds impacted about 1.25 km from the plant's perimeter, according to the IAEA's announcement.
