Islamabad, Nov 27 (NationPress) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi has declared that members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will engage in a peaceful demonstration outside the Islamabad High Court every Tuesday, protesting the ongoing delays in the hearings concerning PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife, according to local media reports on Thursday.
While addressing PTI supporters, Afridi stated, "Following the peaceful protest outside the Islamabad High Court until 1 PM, lawmakers will proceed to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, accompanied by Mr. Imran’s sisters, and will sit outside the jail."
Dawn, a leading newspaper in Pakistan, reported that he urged PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja to ensure that all PTI representatives from the national and provincial assemblies and the Senate are present at the High Court on Tuesdays. He emphasized that PTI workers should ensure their elected representatives attend the protest.
He remarked, "Wherever you are, ensure that all your respective MNAs and MPAs are present at the peaceful protest. We will hold absent lawmakers accountable afterward."
Sohail Afridi affirmed that PTI's peaceful campaign for Imran Khan's release will persist, and he will visit Adiala Jail each Thursday until he has met with the PTI founder. He also announced a political gathering in the provincial capital scheduled for December.
Recently, PTI criticized the alleged mistreatment of Imran Khan's sisters outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, labeling it a "serious example of fascism" and a clear breach of constitutional and human rights.
During a press conference held at Insaf House Karachi, PTI Sindh chapter President Haleem Adil Sheikh stated that Imran Khan's sisters experienced "severe cruelty" during their visit to see their imprisoned brother. He alleged that Noreen Khan was forcibly dragged while Aleema Khan was mishandled by police officials, as reported by The Express Tribune.
"They were abducted, taken away, and later abandoned far from the location," Sheikh claimed, calling the incident a serious violation of the law, the Constitution, and basic human dignity.
He noted that the use of violence against women only reflects the state's weakness and moral decay. "A sister visiting her brother and being mistreated like this is a testament to the state's fear and its moral bankruptcy."
