During a joint press conference alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa after their discussions in New Delhi, PM Modi stated, "The cooperation between India and the European Union symbolizes a partnership for global benefit. We are set to enhance trilateral projects stretching from the Indo-Pacific to the Caribbean. This endeavor will bolster sustainable agriculture, clean energy, and empower women. Together, we will develop the IMEC corridor as a crucial link for global trade and connectivity."

He acknowledged that the relationship between India and the EU has witnessed significant advancements recently. Commending the contributions of the Indian diaspora in European nations, he pointed out that over 800,000 Indians residing across Europe are actively engaged in their communities.

PM Modi remarked, "Yesterday marked a historic event when, for the first time, EU leaders participated as chief guests in India's Republic Day festivities. Today signifies another pivotal moment as the world’s two largest democracies embark on a new chapter in their partnership."

"Over the past few years, the relationship between India and the EU has experienced remarkable growth. Fueled by shared democratic principles, economic collaboration, and robust people-to-people ties, our connection is reaching new pinnacles. Presently, bilateral trade between India and the EU is valued at 180 billion euros, with more than 800,000 Indians now living in various European nations and actively contributing to their economies," he added.

He announced plans for India and the EU to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, maritime security, and cyber security. He emphasized, "A solid security and defense partnership forms the bedrock of any strategic alliance. Today, we are enhancing this through our security and defense collaboration, which will deepen our joint efforts in counter-terrorism, maritime, and cyber security. This will fortify our partnership supporting a rules-based international order. Our collaboration will further expand within the Indo-Pacific."

PM Modi also outlined a new framework for mobility between India and the EU, stating, "This initiative will open up new avenues for Indian students, workers, and professionals in the European Union."

He highlighted that India has finalized a Free Trade Agreement with the EU, emphasizing that it will generate fresh opportunities in manufacturing and enhance cooperation in the services sectors of both nations.

"Today, India has sealed the largest Free Trade Agreement in its history. Coincidentally, on the 27th, India is signing this FTA with 27 EU nations.
