Victoria, Oct 27 (NationPress) Vice President C P Radhakrishnan emphasized India's determination to enhance the enduring relationship of camaraderie and collaboration with Seychelles during his engagement with the newly-elected President Patrick Herminie at the State House in Victoria.
He articulated India’s aspiration to bolster cooperation in all aspects of Seychelles’ developmental agendas, particularly in health, education, energy, transport, and maritime security.
The Vice President conveyed heartfelt congratulations to President Herminie on his inauguration on behalf of the Indian Government and its citizens. He also presented an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a visit to India at a convenient time.
“Next year marks the 50th anniversary of Seychelles’ independence, coinciding with the 50th year of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles. As we approach these significant milestones, we are optimistic that the ties between India and Seychelles will reach new heights,” remarked Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
Earlier, Radhakrishnan had a discussion with Seychelles Vice President-elect Sebastien Pillay at the State House regarding various dimensions of bilateral collaboration.
In a statement on X, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted, “Both leaders explored the multi-faceted India-Seychelles relationship, grounded in shared heritage, culture, and people-to-people connections.”
The Vice President also extended his best wishes to Pillay for a fruitful tenure.
According to Misri, Vice President Radhakrishnan briefly met with Mauritius Prime Minister Navin Chandra Ramgoolam.
Radhakrishnan’s visit to Seychelles commenced on Sunday to witness the swearing-in ceremony of Herminie, who took office at Unity Stadium in Victoria.
In a post on X, Radhakrishnan expressed, “Thrilled to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Patrick Herminie as President of the Republic of Seychelles at Unity Stadium, Victoria, Seychelles, sharing my greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Indian Government and its people.”
The Vice President also addressed members of the Indian community in Seychelles, highlighting the “long-standing and multi-dimensional ties” between the two nations.
He praised the role of the Indian diaspora in further enhancing bilateral relations.
