The focal meeting took place between India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi and Mahdi Amin, Advisor to Bangladesh's Prime Minister covering the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, and Ministry of Labour and Employment, and also serving as Spokesperson at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka noted that 'the meeting highlighted the enduring bonds between India and Bangladesh, rooted in strong people-to-people ties,' adding that both sides 'discussed the importance of further deepening the bilateral partnership for the mutual benefit and prosperity of the peoples of the two sovereign nations, with particular emphasis on cooperation in education, technology and innovation.'

A day prior, on Wednesday, 16 September, High Commissioner Trivedi met Rashiduzzaman Millat, Bangladesh's Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism, also in Dhaka. According to the Indian mission, discussions encompassed 'enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of civil aviation, improving air connectivity, enhancing air cargo capacity, improving bilateral working mechanisms and promoting tourism.'

The aviation dialogue signals both countries' intent to expand physical and economic linkages beyond traditional trade routes, tapping into the growing regional tourism and logistics sectors.

Water Resources and Strategic Affairs

Earlier in the week, Trivedi met Zahed Ur Rahman, Advisor for Policy and Strategy to Bangladesh's Prime Minister, covering a broad spectrum of bilateral topics. Both sides expressed optimism that the two nations would 'continue to work together to enhance people-to-people relations,' according to the Indian High Commission.

Trivedi also held a separate meeting with Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, Bangladesh's Minister of Water Resources, with discussions centred on deepening bilateral engagement in that sector. Minister of State Forhad Hossain Azad was also present at the water resources meeting. The Indian High Commission emphasised the importance of 'strengthening bilateral engagement for achieving the shared aspirations of the peoples of the two neighbouring countries.'
