Tokyo, Aug 29 (NationPress) Describing the synergy of Indian talent and Japanese technology as a "winning combination", Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the two nations have established a foundation for a new and golden chapter in their Special Strategic and Global Partnership as they swiftly advance in sectors like ports, aviation, and shipbuilding under the Next Generation Mobility Partnership.
During a joint press conference with Japanese PM Shigeru Ishiba after their discussions, PM Modi remarked, "Our discussions today were both productive and purposeful. As the world's two largest economies and vibrant democracies, our partnership is crucial not only for our nations but for global peace and stability. Strong democracies are natural allies in shaping a better world."
He added that the bond between India and Japan is founded on mutual trust, reflects national priorities, and is shaped by shared values and beliefs. "Together, we dream of peace, progress, and prosperity for our people and the world," he expressed.
PM Modi further stated, "We believe that Japanese technology and Indian talent are a winning combination. While we are advancing high-speed rail, we will also make significant progress in ports, aviation, and shipbuilding under the Next Generation Mobility Partnership."
He underscored that collaboration in high technology is a priority for both nations, emphasizing that the shared vision includes key interests such as investment, innovation, economic security, environment, technology, health, mobility, and people-to-people exchanges.
According to PM Modi, "Cooperation in high technology is vital for us. In this context, initiatives like Digital Partnership 2.0 and AI cooperation are being launched. Semiconductors and rare earth minerals will be our top priority."
His statements followed the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit at Kantei, Japan's Prime Minister's official residence, attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and India's Ambassador to Japan Sibi George.
Outlining the roadmap for the coming decade, PM Modi stated, "Today, we have laid the foundation of a new and golden chapter in our Special Strategic and Global Partnership. Key priorities include investment, innovation, economic security, environment, technology, health, mobility, and partnerships. We aim to attract 10 trillion yen in Japanese investments to India in the next ten years, focusing on connecting India's startups with Japanese SMEs. I also told the Japanese companies at the India-Japan Business Forum, 'Make in India, Make for the World.'"
Upon arriving at Kantei, PM Modi received a ceremonial welcome and a Guard of Honour. Earlier, he and Ishiba addressed the India-Japan Economic Forum, where CEOs and business leaders participated. In his speech, PM Modi highlighted India's strong economic ties with Japan and discussed potential areas for future collaboration.
